It’s November already! Sounds like a total cliché, but this year is going waaaay too fast. Coming soon will be an update of everything that happened during 2017, up and downs, and swings and confusions… But for now, let’s talk Baking! (oh, and read till the end if you are in Montreal and want an special Gift)
I’ve been out of my comfort zone for a few months now, and by out I mean way out there haha, If you follow me (or most likely, are related to me somehow), you might know that I love to bake, bake for others, and youtube my baking, but at the beginning of the summer I got an offer to start teaching baking classes! WOW, how exiting is that? Considering that I’m one of those self-taught bakers, that hasn’t been in this business for too long and whose first language is not English and who has never taught before.
Of course I said yes! The classes take place at The Lincoln Apartment bakery, which is the place where I took my first (and only) macaroon class, and since then became a better baker (proud Student here). Jess, who is the soul running this place, was ultra busy filming a tv show (Flour Power, on Gusto TV), and then getting married and then Honey mooning… So, very shy, but the happiest I could, I came to the rescue!
I was called to mainly help with the bachelorette parties, because as you know, summer is the high season for that, and there were too many and they’re not rocket science, specially after I got the training needed from the Real Pro. Classes started going well, and then I was asked to teach my own Cake Pops classes! The pictures below are from one of my Cake Pops class this summer, it was great, I even had a 5yr old student and he was adorable. (Thank you Kathy for coming and taking sweet pictures of my class)
Cake Pops can be a little tricky because the way the LAB works is, we explain and show, but you, the student do the job and learn the technics. Cake pops, required many little tricks to keep the balls on the stick, to keep the chocolate runny enough, in and out of the fridge, etc… I came up with some ways to make the process faster and more standard, now every class goes smoother, but the best part is when all my students go home with their little bag of cake pops they made themselves.
So, if you live in Montreal, go to The Lincoln Apartment bakery website and book a group class, we’ll send you a list of recipes so you can choose what you want to bake with your friends… Group classes can be for celebrations, team building or just something fun to do with your kids.
By the way, don’t forget to mention the code “sprinkles” to get a 20% Off on your group class 😉
Happy Baking!
