Ok, the story behind tassel keychains goes beyond just me being obsessed with tassels lately, but let’s start from the beginning. I don’t know about you, but I love hand made gifts and hand written notes… they are just so meaningful, and always have a story behind that I get to hear first. But more than receiving them, I’m the dork who usually makes them, but not just because I think they’re great, but because when somebody admires something I’m wearing or using to decorate, makes me feel so happy to say “I can make/give you one”, so yes, at the end all this is just selfishness that gives me joy haha.
What you’ll need es pretty basic, and full disclosure here, I didn’t spend much making them, and I’m still pretty stoked with the result, they’re freking cute!
Everything can be found at the “jewelry aisle” of your craft store, I got some leather looking strings, clasps, long (not pointy) pins, you know the ones they sell to make earrings and finally, some round ends for jewelry making, those used for mainly bracelets or necklaces… Take a look at the picture below if it’s not very clear.
You wanna start by wrapping your string on some card or flat steady object, keep in mind that the width of this will be the length of your tassels. When you’re done wrapping, cut one end and tie the tassels with nylon or any thread on the other end. Insert the pin in one of the rounds and put a drop of glue inside, right away push the tied end of the tassels in and wait for it to dry.
Last step is to add the claps, just slide them on the pin, wrap it and cut the left over wire. Easy and cute!
